Sarah Jane Adventures
The new Sarah Jane Adventures started on BBC today; Mr. Lacer will watch anything Doctor Who related, so of course he was watching it (going as far as recording it, as he wasn’t home). So as I happened to be in the same room, I thought I’d give it another go (I wasn’t too impressed with the pilot, a little to in the style of Tracey Beaker but then again I am a grown up, I know full well it wasn’t made for me) and specially as I harbour a vain hope of one day writing for Doctor Who, in some form or another, even if it’s just the Doctor Who magazine! I even thought I’d brave the Slitheen, who didn’t feature in my most favourite New Who episodes funnily enough.
So I was pleasantly surprised to find I really enjoyed the first two episodes of the new series. There was less scene setting and the main characters were likeable but the biggest surprise was that the Slitheen, who had previously been quite a weak monster of the week, were excellent in this, although still playing for laughs with plenty of fart gags, they were a lot more menancing in these two episodes, even the baby Slitheen was cute but menancing. So you know what, I think I’ll be watching it next week.
