One word after another

I was sitting trying to work on my NaNoWriMo and failing dismally and thinking this is an utter piece of ^&*$ when up popped a very timely NaNoWriMo e-mail from author Neil Gaiman, very timely. Basically on the lines of ‘if you’re just over the half way point of your novel, you are by now probably going to think it is complete and utter rubbish and the only thing you can do to put it out of it’s misery is hit the delete button’ (I’m paraphrasing here), how did he know lol! But he then goes on to offer some very useful advice of just keep at it, one word after another and you’ll get through it and I know I will. My NaNoWriMo is in three parts, part I has been written and it sets the scene up, part II wasn’t actually going to happen, I originally saw this as a two part book but I thought about the problems I’d set up and how I was going to resolve it and I thought hang on a minute, are these people on my space ship going to really sit there and take all this sh*t I’ve been throwing at them? No. So I’ve added part II (which I’m struggling to write at the moment) where the people on my space ship are responding to how they’ve been treated, which will be nicely quoshed in time for part III when it’s my lone heroine against the world again. Thing is when I thought up and planned this story I saw just what turned out to be parts I and III, so part II is unknown and currently rather boring (for me and probably anyone (if I ever let them) who reads it) but I think it needs to be written, I need to let the supporting characters (all 20,000 of them) have their say before my heroine has her swansong.
