Jamie at Home Christmas Special
For those that missed the Jamie at Home Christmas special, its currently on 4OD, definitely worth watching again for Jamie’s ‘why doesn’t everyone carve turkey like that’ turkey carving technique, honestly, why do people spend Christmas Day hacking at the poor turkey, when you can use Jamie’s very sensible technique of completely removing the breast in one giant piece and then cutting it across the breast? We’re not having turkey this year as I hate the idea of the surgical manoeuvres on it on Christmas day but now I know, we’ll be definitely be having turkey next year.
Also worth seeing the special for Jamie’s take on mince pies, which honestly I don’t normally like mince pies but I’d eat these (just about, still not keen on mince meat). Jamie’s mince pies are this sort of weird puff pastry rolls in filo pastry (no where near as hard as it sounds), I think I will be experimenting with the idea, changing the filling a little to something a little more appealing. It’s also worth watching the mince pie segment for the chatter between Jamie and his mate Gennaro, it’s hilarious!
Finally there was a very interesting trailer just before Jamie at Home, for something called The Big Food Fight, you can watch the trailer, featuring Jamie, Gordon Ramsey and Hugh Fearnly Whittingsal (sp?) here, watch it, it’s incredibly funny. The Big Food Fight is a season of programmes on 4 about food, featuring (information taken from the previous link)
Hugh’s Chicken Run – 7, 8 & 9 Jan, 9pm
The Diet that Time Forgot – 9 Jan, 10pm
Dispatches: The Truth About Food – 10 Jan, 9pm
Jamie’s Fowl Dinners – 11 Jan, 9pm
Jamie’s Eat To Save Your Life – 14 Jan, 10pm
Dispatches: It’s Not My Fault I’m Fat – 17 Jan, 9pm
Gordon Ramsay Cookalong: LIVE – 18 Jan, 9pm
Looks fascinating and Gordon Ramsay’s cookalong looks fun, a live hour where the nation is meant to be cooking along at the same time, I don’t have a TV in my kitchen though!
