Ashes to Ashes
Sigh, I now feel officially old, whereas I quite liked Life on Mars, as Mr. Lacer (who’s older than me) would say, “I didn’t quite get Life on Mars because I wasn’t around in 1973″, whereas I very definitely remember 1981, christ next week’s episode with the street party for Charles and Di, I remember going to one of those! But as usual I’m getting ahead of myself, Ashes to Ashes, first episode was really good, funny, exciting, well made, clever (not one for clown phobics), creepy, moving (any mother would relate to Hawes character wanting to get back to her daughter), fantastic sets, they looked they must have had a blast making it, BBC Wales and Kudos can do no wrong, Keeley Hawes was fantastic and it was great to see the old crew, specially Philip Glenister back, this is going to be a great series, now as Mr. Lacer would say “I think I get it,” and oh they had Zippy and George, fresh from the 80’s, that just made it!
For those though who have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, Life on Mars was this fantastic TV series about a cop who gets injured and ends up going back to the 1970s, he works out he’s in a coma and he tries to work out various crimes in an effort to get back. Ashes to Ashes works on similar lines, with the same police team, this time set in 1981 and with a new injured cop in a coma, it is going to be fantastic.
