Bunkbeds!

The bunkbed mattresses finally arrived this morning! There was lots of huffing and puffing from me as I struggled to put the tight fitting mattresses in and even more huffing and puffing and controlled non-swearing when I put the fitted sheets on (Boy Lacer seems to have broken my toe yesterday by trending on my foot with his great big heavy boots, it still hurts and is very painful to touch, so that made this morning’s assembly job fun, not. I haven’t even tried putting shoes on yet and I have a race in 2 weeks!).

Girl Lacer has made herself well and truly at home on the top bunk; Boy Lacer on the other hand doesn’t want to know, so I’m leaving him to discover his bunk in his own time, as long as that’s some point before bedtime that is!

Now I have lots of putting rooms back together, we’ve lost quite a lot of wall space in the kids room and haven’t a clue where to put the soft toys or the books. It all looks so cosy though, makes me wish I could sleep there. With both of the kids moving up to bigger beds, we’ve had to get new bedlinen, pillows and duvets and the bedlinen on the beds at the moment is the most gorgeous deep dark blue, it reminds of the sea in the opening sequence of In the Night Garden, makes me all sleepy (not hard as the kids woke me up at 5.30am this morning) just thinking about snuggling down amidst all that blue, safe and cocooned from the world.

The bedlinen was from Zara Home and considering how much duvet covers can cost, they were a bargain. We also got a bright pink set from there for Girl Lacer and a khaki shade of green set for Boy Lacer. We also got some bargain floor cushions from there, you can see the yellow one in the photo, under Girl Lacer’s stripy horse. The duvets and pillows were even more of a bargain, £20 for all (that’s two single duvets and two pillows) from M&S. The bunkbed and mattresses were actually ‘free’, although in reality the whole thing cost £495 from John Lewis, it’s just Mr. Lacer got £500 in John Lewis vouchers from work! Lucky for that, otherwise the bunkbed would have had to have been from Ikea!
