Oh this one is so sad. Before I Die by Jenny Downham tells the story of Tessa, a sixteen year old with terminal leukaemia. She creates a list of things to do before she dies from having sex, to breaking the law and saying yes to everything for the day. A definite tear jerker but it tackles a difficult topic sensitively.
A first for Boy Lacer today, he came up to me and said “I love you”, well more like “I love yah” but the sentiments the same, awwwwwww, highlight of my day .
It’s been a good couple of days for seeing friends; Girl Lacerwent to a party yesterday which I thought was just a drop off party but it turned out to be a ‘mummies stay and be sociable’ party to, so I stayed even though at first I wasn’t feeling overly sociable and I ended up having a really good time. I came home afterward green from both too much yummy adult party food and at how gorgeous the party girl’s house was, very very big and very very expensive, the garden was bigger than my flat, so in my wildest dreams basically. They had treasure hunts and a seemingly never ending party bag, so we were all very spoilt. Very hot weather and my friend didn’t have any water in her taps, if I’d been holding a party and there was no water I’d have been freaking out but she was very calm and organised about it.
Today we had a picnic with some friends from nursery in the playground. The kids all went off and played whilst the mummies sat under the cool of the trees. Girl Lacer was of course happy playing with her friends, Boy Lacer as usual was just wondering off doing his own thing and it was a bit hard keeping track of the conversation under the trees as I had to keep an eye on where he was.
Talking of Boy Lacer I just saw him do a weird thing, he’s playing on the computer with no sound on as I type and I suddenly heard him singing the Something Special song from TV, I looked up and there were the words coming up on the screen (no sound though remember), was he reading it or was he (more probably) just remembering to link the pictures that were coming up above the words with the song? Goodness he’s just done that with Incey Wincey Spider as well, singing perfectly in sinc with the words as they came up. Probably coincidence I know but it’s always nice to see him do something well. Should definitely play the CBeebies web site with sound off more often!
Anyway, hot and humid again today and I do not want to do anything except read my current read and drink cold drink after cold drink. What is really dispiriting that after my mammoth effort last Friday to tidy the flat it is now a pigsty again, partly because Mr. Lacer was tidying up yesterday, unearthing things from under the sofa and from under the sofa cushions, thing is, ok things shouldn’t be under the sofa or it’s cushions but at least they’re out of sight, I have no idea where to put them now!
