Binah Ballerina
Finished! Anyone with eagle eyes on this blog recently would have noticed pictures of a half finished doll on my Flickr widget and I finished it this evening, when I attempted to make some ballet shoes for her and gave up!
The doll is for a friend’s little girl’s birthday, me and my friends have a birthday fairy system where we draw names at random and when I received my friend’s little girl’s name I knew it had to be something ballet related as my friend’s family is a very ballet family.
Binah Ballerina is my first attempt at a pattern from Toys to Sew by Claire Garland. It was a challenging sew and marked my first attempt at hair and making proper dolls’ clothes. The instructions were not particularly clear at points, particularly for the clothes and like I said, I gave up on the shoes and I had to ‘bodge’ the vest and tutu but I’m reasonably pleased with them. I had trouble to, doing the hair as instructed, soSew I sort of did that my own way to but was really pleased with the result.
