Valentine’s Day Mini-Pillow

This post was actually written on Thursday the 12th but I’ve delayed posting it so it doesn’t ruin any surprises for Mr. Lacer.

An extra little something for Mr. Lacer (after he got his Valentine’s Day scarf early). I was inspired by the ‘I love your guts’ card on Sublime Stitching’s Blog but as I already have a card for Mr. Lacer (a very cute Lego one), I thought about making just a picture of the I love your guts design and then thinking about the other designs on Sublime Stitching’s Vital Organs sheet I decided to go for a take on I (Eye) Love (Heart) You (U) instead. I haven’t embroidered in ages, principally because I’ve been knitting but also because I distinctly over embroidered tea towels myself in the run up to Christmas, so it was fun to get back into it and the biologist in me loved doing the heart, I even made sure the colours were (sort of) correct, in that blue for the deoxygenated bits and pink for the oxygenated bits. I’ve changed my embroidery thread brand as I was lured by a 30 skeins for a very cheap amount of money and mmm, well you know the saying, you get what you pay for, so I will be switching back to my normal brand when I’ve finished with this lot, as my new thread seperates and gets all tangly and knotty. However I am liking the colours, they look slightly fadey and antiquey, well at least the pink and blue is.

Just to add, as I type this (in preparation for posting this on Saturday) I am thrilled to discover that the pillow has made the Sublime Stitching blog, as I’d posted a picture up on Flickr. I’m very chuffed!
