Dearly Devoted Dexter (TSS again)

A sign of a good book for me is when I finish it in a manner of just a few short days and in the case of Dearly Devoted Dexter, I read it literally in 24 hours. It was a ‘fun’ read (ok the methodology used on the victims in this one is nowhere near ‘fun’) but it was a very entertaining read and great to read a new Dexter story that was away from the TV series. In this way, just as season 2 starts out, Doakes is following Dexter but when something from Doakes past comes to Miami, the plot line goes very differently.

A question though for people who have seen the complete season 2 and read Dearly Devoted Dexter, is there any similarity with season 2 and book 2 beyond Doakes following Dexter? Mr. Lacer who adores TV far more than books, doesn’t want to read book 2 in case something spoils the end of season 2

The Sunday Salon – Dexter continued

I’m currently reading my way through the omnibus of the first three Dexter books. I finished the first, Darkly Dreaming Dexter last night and I’m now up to chapter 9 of the second, Dearly Devoted Dexter. Whereas the first book follows the first season of Dexter on TV quite closely, the second book follows a different storyline than the second season, although there is so far one similarity, as just like season 2 on TV, where Doakes is following Dexter, Doakes is also following Dexter in book 2.
