In the meanwhile . . .
Happy April everyone! I like April, it’s such a vast improvement on March. Anyone been got by any April Fool’s? I was got for about 5 minutes by an ad in today’s Times for a BMW car that could be pulled along by a special magnetic beam, I was sitting there thinking “wow, that’s really cool, I need a car like that,” until I remembered what the date is. There was a ‘story’ about it here.
I was going to do a blog post about my quilt that I finished yesterday (hooray, only after three attempts at binding it), I washed it this morning (the book I was following suggested actually washing the quilt afterwards instead of pre-washing the fabric, for some ‘vintage’ puckering) and I had hoped it’d be dry by now, but obviously quilt batting holds an awful lot of water. It’s only a lap quilt, goodness knows how long it’d take to dry a double bed sized quilt. So not wanting to take a photo of a dripping wet quilt, here’s what’s been on my line today as well.

And co-opting there the kids’ trampoline as a useful drying rack as well.
Girl Lacer has been suffering from allergic rhinitis at night, so we figured it was something in her bedroom, so we dumped the toy shop’s worth of soft toys off her bed and temporarily onto the floor. Her allergic rhinitis eased, Boy Lacer (who is on the bottom bunk) suddenly started sniffing. So I’ve sorted through the toys today, some (sssh) have gone to the great dustbin in the sky and the others have been washed. I’ve also washed her pillow but as I can currently hear her sniffing slightly (she’s playing on her bed), I think the next thing to be washed may be the actual duvet.
And as I’m sorting through photos on my phone, here’s a random photo of my new shoes.

They’re from Clarks and they have the rather cool name (I think its cool anyway) of Henderson Fizz. I’m holding up my flared jeans in the photo, otherwise you wouldn’t really be able to see the shoes, so they’re now designated my skirt shoes, whereas my daffodil green Clarks shoes are my trouser shoes. It’s unusual for me to have two pairs of ‘proper’ shoes at once, but I had a 20% off voucher so . . . Now I know those voucher things are actually designed to make you spend money, but I figured in an average summer I go through two pair of summer shoes (literally wrecking them, as I walk so much), so I figured might as well get both pairs of shoes at the start of the summer shoe season, so I’ve got a bit of mix and match going on, instead of waiting for me to wreck my green shoes first and it’d make my green shoes last longer, which is good, because they’re sooooo comfy. The purple Clarks are also pretty comfy to (although not as comfy) and I was convinced they weren’t going to give me a blister, until I walked all the way to speech therapy yesterday that is. I like them because they’ve got quite a hard sole which has quite a girly grown up clip clop sound on the pavement as I walk and I never normally wear shoes like that, so I feel all grown up now! My green and purple shoes do mark a change in direction for me though, normally I’d be spending a lot of time in Converses but the urge to buy any this year has been completely absent, girly shoes rule!
I love your green shoes…which is something for me to admit as I hate green, but your shoes look fun
