Mmmm, after the good sci-fi earlier on this evening (Doctor Who’s Planet of the Dead), the new Red Dwarf episode 2 was lame in comparison unfortunately and even a bit lame when not comparing it to anything else good I’ve happened to watch on TV recently. I enjoyed the first episode of the new Dwarf and the story seemed to be setting up well, Lister is about to be sent to Earth to find a mate, it was pretty obvious that the whole crew would end up going but then the twist that they are actually fictional (yes I know they’re fictional but the whole fictional characters realising they’re actually fictional wasn’t working for me). It then leads to this whole plot where the crew go off to find the creators of Red Dwarf. I’d have preferred just three more straight forward episodes set in their universe. Still it wasn’t not funny but it just left me feeling like I wished they’d left Red Dwarf alone.
PS The department store they climb out of the TVs in happens to be my local John Lewis, which is obviously a mecca for sci-fi/fantasy filming as they filmed an episode of Primeval there to.
