Black Balloon

Me and Mr. Lacer watched The Black Balloon on DVD yesterday. An Australian movie, it tells the story of a family of two teenage sons, one of whom is autistic and the other is trying (and not particularly succeeding) to lead his life, find a girl, despite his autistic brother.

Each autistic child is different, the autistic character in The Black Balloon was low functioning, whereas Boy Lacer is high functioning, however there were still quite a few moments of recognition, particularly the scene in the supermarket, which was toe curling.

It’s a lovely movie of acceptance and I’d recommend it.
