I didn’t think much of this book. The story of a couple who have their grand tour of Europe cut short when they’re thrown off a train in Romania. They find themselves in the deep, dark woods and come across a spooky looking house. They go into the house, something terrible happens and then it cuts to them fleeing the scene. You don’t find out what actually happened in the house for much of the book, as it leaps forward to the couple trying to recover from their trauma back in London. I know that the missing segment of story is a device that authors do use but it seemed very contrived in Follow You Home, specially the set pieces where the main character would reveal to another character a portion of what happened. This book is not high literature but it’s fairly fast paced with short chapters, a lot of which you could almost imagine a dum dum daaaah at the end of the chapters. The characters just didn’t seem very believable and there wasn’t really any point where I got so into the story that it stopped feeling like a story, if you know what I mean. I was very conscious of the writer throughout.
