#30DaysWild 10 – Canbury Gardens

Another day of walking instead of taking the bus (yay, fitness levels!). I needed to do a quick bit of shopping, so instead of taking the bus or walking the quickest way, I walked the slightly longer way into town via Canbury Gardens. Canbury Gardens is a little water side park by the Thames, that used to be grazing land in ancient times, then gravel pits, then a complete eye sore, then a public garden from the 1890s.

I always like this postcard, from apparently 1907, the trees on the postcard, as you can see in my first photo above, are massive now (image credit)

Some leaves are starting to fall off already, although we’ve had some high winds.

The Gardens are fairly well kept but there’s plenty of wild if you look in the cracks in the walls, the untended flower beds and along the river edge.

And water birds with their babies too, although they’re getting quite big now!

This photo is a bit of a cheat, as it’s just outside Canbury Gardens but I couldn’t resist.
